NAMIBIA 4
Once again we cordially invite you to the exhibition „Namibia4“ at the Rathausgalerie Reinickendorf, presenting works from our artists in residence. Shiya Karuseb will show linocuts and new works which were created during his residency in Berlin. Joba Jonathan presents mixed-media works, while Barbara Böhlke exhibits some of her oil paintings. Cristina Salvoldi shows one of her bronze sculptures which were made in Berlin. Monday to Friday from 9:00-18:00. Barbara Böhlke, Joba Jonathan and Shiya Karuseb will be present at the opening. Please join us for the opening of this exciting exhibition on Thursday, the 21st of January at 18h30.
The exhibition is part of a series of Namibian art exhibitions and is a cooperation between the Kunstamt Reinickendorf and p.art.ners berlin-windhoek. In 2008 the exhibition series in the Rathaus Gallery started with photographs by Helga Kohl, followed in 2009 with artworks by Kaleb Haipinge, Jost Kirsten and Kleopas Nghikefelwa.
Barbara Böhlke born 1958 in Swakopmund, Namibia. Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Stellenbosch in Südafrika. Lives in Windhoekand, works as an art teacher. Solo exhibitions in the National Art Gallery in Windhoek (1994, 2003), 1996 curator of the group exhibition "10 Nambian Artists" in Bielefeld. 1993 1st prize in the Professional Artists' Category of the Standard Bank Namibia Biennale in Windhoek.
Joba Jonathan born 1975 in Otjiwarongo, Namibia, lives in Windhoek and teaches art at the John Muafangejo Centre. Studied at the Technikon Natal, Diplom in History of Art and Digital & Audio Video Editing. Solo exhibitions amongst others: Bat Centre, South Africa (1997), Uppsala Open Air Gallery in Sweden (1999), Alternative Digital Art Gallery in Japan (2008) and in the National Art Gallery of Namibia (2008).
Shiya Karuseb, born 1972 in Okahandja, Namibia and lives in Windhoek. Studied at the John Muafangejo Centre in Windhoek. Solo exhibitions amongst others in the Oro Gallery in Norway (1998) and in the National Art Gallery in Windhoek (2004, 2006). Children's Picture Book Award (Italy, 1998) /Ae// Gams Festival Graphic Award (Windhoek, 2003).
Cristina Salvoldi born 1983 in Windhoek, Namibia. Currently lives in Cape Town, South Africa. Diplom in Motion Picture Make-up and Art Direction. Standard Biennale Art Exhibition (2003, 2005), has worked on props for several Film- and Theater productions (amongst others on "10 000 BC", 2006).
